If you’re managing a Wix website and need to collaborate with someone, such as a developer, designer, or content manager, granting them contributor access is a great way to ensure they can help manage your site without handing over your personal account credentials. In this blog post, I’ll walk you through the detailed steps to give 'austin@weezle.com' contributor access to your Wix website. This guide will provide all the instructions you need to make the process smooth and secure.
Why Grant Contributor Access to your WIX website?
Collaborating on a Wix website often requires other team members or professionals to access the site. This could involve updating the design, managing content, or handling SEO and marketing tasks. By granting contributor access, you maintain control over the website while enabling others to share the workload. With Wix, you can assign specific roles to contributors, ensuring they only access the sections of the website they need. This keeps your site secure while giving trusted individuals the tools they need to assist.
Prerequisites: What You Need Before Granting Access
Before you begin, make sure you have the following information and permissions in place:
Wix Account Login: Ensure you have access to the Wix account that owns the website where you’ll grant access.
Email Address of the Contributor: In this case, you’ll need the specific email address: austin@weezle.com.
Admin Permissions: Only the website owner or someone with admin privileges can grant access to contributors.
Contributor’s Wix Account: The contributor (Austin) needs to have a Wix account associated with their email address. If they don’t have one, they’ll need to create an account before accepting the invitation.

Step-by-Step Guide to Grant Contributor Access to WIX
Follow these steps to provide Weezle with the appropriate permissions for your Wix website.
Step 1: Log In to Your Wix Account
To start, head over to Wix.com and log in to your account using your email and password. Make sure you’re logging into the correct account that owns the website where you’ll be granting access. If you have multiple websites under one account, ensure you’re working on the appropriate site.
Step 2: Access the Roles & Permissions Settings
Once logged in:
Navigate to the Wix Dashboard for the website you want to manage.
On the left-hand side of the dashboard, look for the Settings menu and click on it.
Under the Settings section, locate and select Roles & Permissions.
This section is where you manage all users who have access to your site, as well as their specific roles and permissions.
Step 3: Invite a Contributor
Now that you’re in the Roles & Permissions area:
Click the Invite People button, which is usually located in the top-right corner of the page.
In the popup window that appears, enter the contributor’s email address. For this case, type austin@weezle.com into the email field.
Assign a role to Austin based on the level of access they need. Wix provides several predefined roles, including:
Admin: Full access to everything (similar to the site owner).
Editor: Can manage site content but doesn’t have access to billing or other administrative functions.
Blog Writer: Can only create and edit blog posts.
Store Manager: Can manage an online store’s inventory, orders, and related features.
Custom Role: If the predefined roles don’t fit, Wix allows you to create a custom role with tailored permissions.
For example, if Austin’s role is to manage blog posts, you can assign theBlog Writerrole. If they need broader access, theEditorrole might be more appropriate.
After selecting the role, click the Send Invite button.
Step 4: Notify Austin to Accept the Invitation
Once you’ve sent the invitation, Wix will email austin@weezle.com with a link to accept their role as a contributor. Let Austin know to check their email inbox (and spam/junk folder, just in case) for the invitation. If Austin already has a Wix account associated with that email address, they can log in and immediately accept the invitation. If they don’t yet have a Wix account, they’ll be prompted to create one before they can accept the invite.
Step 5: Confirm the Contributor’s Status
After Austin accepts the invitation, their name and assigned role will appear in theRoles & Permissions section of your Wix dashboard. This confirms that they now have access to the site. You can always return to this section to modify their permissions, remove them as a contributor, or assign them a different role if needed.
Managing Contributor Roles and Permissions
Wix makes it easy to manage contributors even after they’ve been added. Here’s how you can handle some common tasks related to contributor roles:
1. Editing Permissions
If Austin’s responsibilities change (e.g., they need broader access or fewer permissions), you can adjust their role by:
Returning to the Roles & Permissions section.
Clicking the three dots next to Austin’s name.
Selecting Edit Permissions.
Assigning a new role or customizing their access.
Most clients just add us as Admin, most of the time however we make the site first and make you owner... so this is mainly for people with a WIX website already.
2. Removing a Contributor
If Austin no longer needs access to the site, you can remove them by:
Going to the Roles & Permissions section.
Clicking the three dots next to Austin’s name.
Choosing the Remove Contributor option.
Confirming the removal when prompted.
This action will immediately revoke their access to the site.
3. Adding Multiple Contributors
If you have a larger team or need to collaborate with multiple people, Wix allows you to invite additional contributors. Simply follow the same steps outlined above for each person you want to add.
While granting access to your Wix site is a convenient way to collaborate, it’s important to prioritize security. Here are some tips to keep your website safe:
Grant the Right Level of Access: Only give contributors the permissions they need. For example, if Austin is only creating blog posts, there’s no need to assign them full admin access.
Monitor Activity: Periodically review the Roles & Permissions section to ensure only authorized users have access to your site.
Change Permissions as Needed: Update or revoke access if a contributor’s role changes or if they no longer need access to your site.
Use Strong Passwords: Encourage all contributors to use strong, unique passwords for their Wix accounts.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
Sometimes, issues can arise when granting contributor access. Here’s how to address a few common problems:
Austin Didn’t Receive the Invitation Email:
Double-check that you entered their email address correctly.
Have Austin check their spam or junk email folder.
Resend the invitation if needed.
Austin Can’t Accept the Invitation:
Ensure they’re using the same email address (austin@weezle.com) that you used to send the invite.
Confirm they have a Wix account or guide them to create one.
Access Not Working After Accepting:
Verify that you assigned the correct role.
Try removing and re-adding Austin as a contributor.
